There are some granites in my home mountains: the best are those of the Gruppo Rava, SW of Cimadasta. Strangely enough, the group is named after a minor summit, namely, the Cimon Rava (2434), which becomes quite imposing, with its partially overhanging wall, when seen from the high Val Rava, but which is overcome by nearly 100 metres by the very close twin summits Cima Trento (2530) and Cima Brunella (2530), the latter of which is hidden here by the former.
The most outstanding shape is that of the bizzarre rock called il Frate, The Monk, towering between Val Rava and Val Fierollo, two twin little, yet very beautiful valleys, divided by the Castelletto, a rarely climbed mountain, but a fine panoramic point above the Valsugana.
