The idea to look for this old and forgotten image was given to me by the incredible N.17227 on PPH, where the same mountain takes on a rather different aspect...
Cima Dodici has a very high ranking in the list of Alpine peaks by prominence:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Alpine_peaks_by_prominence
Thi can be visually checked, for example, in my N.27650.
In 2008 I devised a tour to exploit such a remarkable prominence: the plan was a one-day bicycle+foot tour working as follows: Valsugana (350) - Cimadasta (north of the valley, 2847) - Valsugana (350) - Cima Dodici (south, 2334) - Valsugana (380) - Fravort (north, 2347). After the first climb I realized that the descent from Cima Dodici would have been too tough for my knees, so I substituted it with the far easier Ziolera (north, 2478). In the late evening this undertaking with 6900 m of ascent was completed, but the curious thing is that the tour build "around" Cima Dodici remained orphan of Cima Dodici... To do it according to the original plan remains an open problem.
Looking at this image, you easily understand why the climb from the N side is particularly demanding: the ascents through Valon delle Trappole or Valon delle Dodese, which are the most direct and spectacular, start directly at a height of 600!
