Alpen-Panoramen - Panorama: What I missed yesterday

Yesterday I was peacefully skiing down from the top of Fravort, without any particular hope of photographing any remarkable sunset. When the sun unexpectedly entered a narrow gap between the mountain horizon and the covering clouds, and there was a sudden glow of the snowy slope behind me, I was decidedly in the wrong place. I made a desperate attempt to push upwards, without skins under the skis, but when I reached a good position on the ridge only a relatively pale afterglow (see Pano 13772) was left to me.
To show what I missed yesterday, I have to resort to a pano more than two years old, taken few meters far away. In that occasion I managed to be in the right place at the right time, even if threatened by the December darkness, falling with such an unforgiving speed. Indeed, the ski+foot descent to my home 1600 lower in the valley needed a certain amount of patience.

I like your view very much. Even more I do like your witty commentary. You are obviously following the right strategy to get beautiful views and photographs: Going up to mountain again, and again, and again ....
I also like the link you are giving. Especilly, because it is a Paolo Chieti panorama well know to most of us (a.p. id 1018) which is on top of the "over the top" page. Regarding the skewed horizons ... I personally think, they could be fixed (i.e. with hugin).

Ja, der Fravort ist mein Hausberg und nur mit der Hilfe des Computers kann ich die Anzahl der Besteigungen halten: 157 bis jetzt, wenn ich keine vergessen habe. Mehr als die Hälfte von diesen gehören der Kategorie die ich lieber habe, das "by fair means": direkt von dem Talgrund zu Fuss, oder Fuss+Ski, oder Fahrrad+Fuss, oder Fahrrad+Ski.
Gestern, zum Beispiel, obwohl es ein perfekter Tag war, musste ich den ganzen Morgen in einer Kirche geschlossen bleiben - in März habe ich meine Diplom-Prüfung in Orgel. So, für den Nachmittag, war der Fravort die einfachste Wahl...
Das ist auch der Grund worauf ich mich nicht zu viel mit den Horizonten von alten Fravort-Fotos beschäftige: leichter finde ich neue zu erzeugen!
Paolo war der echte "Testimonial" des "by fair means" - er besass kein Auto... Hier zum Beispiel http://forum.thetop.it/viewtopic.php?t=1760 macht Er eine Überschreitung von seinem Hause in Laives, Etschtal, bis Predazzo, Fleimstal, und kehrt Er mit dem letzten Bus!!
Der Webmeister von Over The Top hat eine grosse Arbeit gehabt, und viele Zweifel, um einen unter den Panoramen von Paolo zu wählen!!
Für uns von dem Kreis von Paolo hat Seine Firma Varesco auch ein Alpenpanoramen-Kalender, mit Panoramen des Formats 100x22, gedruckt. Auch dort hält "Pale di San Martino I" den ersten Platz, Jänner.
